Chan Peng Soon is looking forward to a better performance with Goh Liu Ying at the 2019 All England Open after last week's disappointing German Open outing.

The mixed doubles pair had enjoyed relative success since leaving the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) at the end of last year to turn pro as they won the Thailand Masters and reached the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters and Indonesia Masters.

However, they crashed out in the first round in Germany to Russian pair Evgenij Dremin-Evgenia Dimova 21-18, 17-21, 15-21.

Following the exit, the 30-year-old wanted to put the disappointment behind him and focus on emulating their 2017 achievement, when they became the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to reach the All England Open final since 1955 but were denied a victory by China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong.

"Our performance in Germany was really poor and I hope we will play better at the All England Open.

"We will try our best after training for a week in Germany. Everything has been going well," he told Astro Arena.

Chan was also feeling positive about their All England Open prospect after welcoming former national shuttler Chew Choon Eng as their coach for the tournament.

The pair, who did not have a coach in Germany, previously had Chew providing sideline guidance in earlier tournaments.

"Choon Eng will be our coach at the upcoming tournament.

"It is a big help especially with me and Liu Ying really in need of a coach's help in international competitions.

"The coach can see mistakes we make during a match clearer, so his presence is very important," he added.

The 2019 All England Open begins on March 6.
