The much awaited Denmark Open kicked off without any glitch late Tuesday and Carolina Marin was one of the seeded shuttlers to stamp her authority in the opening round.

The Spaniard made light work of Natalia Perminova in the opening round, working the Russian into submission to win 21-7, 21-15 in 28 minutes.

Despite looking like a straightforward win, Marin wasn't too pleased with her performance.

"I didn't feel I gave my best today. But I have some training and will prepare for Thursday next," said Marin, who plays Denmark's Line Christophersen next.

The men's singles saw India's Lakhsya Sen dispose of Christo Popov 21-9, 21-15.

Sixth seed Kenta Nishimoto was also on form with a 21-9, 21-10 victory over Israel's Misha Zilberman.

The men's doubles saw fourth seeds Kim Astrup-Anders Rasmussen beat Canadians Jason Anthony-Nyl Yakura 21-10-21-15, while in the mixed doubles, Chris and Gabrielle Adcock beat Germans Patrick Scheil-Franziska Volmann 21-14, 21-17.

The opening round continues on Wednesday.
