K.Srikanth and Chou Tien-chen, who are among favourites to clinch the Denmark Open men’s singles title, will meet for a place in the semi-finals after the Indian saw off Canada’s Jason Anthony 21-15, 21-14 to set-up the plum tie.

Srikanth is trying to rediscover some of the form that saw him clinch the Danish title in 2017 and hog the world number one spot for a brief spell a year later.

Results mostly did not go his way this year, but the world number 14 is hoping to come good against the world number two.

“He hits hard, he’s someone who has an overall game, he has a hard smash, he knows when to attack and defend. He has matured. It’s always good when you play a top-four player,” said Srikanth after his win.

Hans-Kristian Vittinghus also produced a fine performance to come from behind and oust India’s Lakshya Sen 15-21, 21-7, 21-17.

The Dane will next face Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in the quarter-finals.
