In line with drastic measures taken to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have quarantined all their shuttlers, including those who have just returned from the recent All-England Championships.

The training centre and gym will be closed for the next 14 days at the national training academy in Bukit Kiara, where all the players and coaches are quarantined and confined to their rooms.

Meals will be delivered to everyone involved, and the only time they are allowed to leave their rooms is to get their temperatures checked twice a day.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) have also postponed all their sanctioned events until further notice from March 16.

The drastic move comes following the Malaysia government’s decision to impose restricted movement, which means any sporting, religious, social and cultural gatherings are prohibited.

The coronavirus spread has worsened in Malaysia, with over 500 cases confirmed as of March 17.
