Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) menyangkal laporan sebuah akhbar tempatan bahawa denda yang dikenakan terhadap pemain perseorangan lelaki negara, Lee Zii Jia, menjadi punca penurunan prestasi pemain berusia 21 tahun itu.
BAM menerusi satu kenyataan berkata pihaknya juga telah membuat kenyataan bertulis kepada akhbar berkenaan menuntut penarikan balik laporan itu tanpa syarat.
“Kenyataan bahawa Zii Jia telah dikenakan denda RM80,000 oleh penaja utama BAM, Victor, kerana menggunakan pelindung betis jenama lain dengan BAM membayar RM50,000 manakala selebihnya telah dibayar oleh Zii Jia itu adalah tidak benar sama sekali.
“Pengamal media juga diingatkan supaya mendapatkan maklumat daripada pihak BAM sendiri sebelum membuat sebarang laporan,” menurut kenyataan itu.
Sebuah akhbar Bahasa Melayu menerusi laporan bertajuk ‘Denda Punca Merudum’ mendakwa denda yang dikenakan terhadap pemain berasal dari Kedah itu menjadi punca penurunan prestasinya.
