Anthony Martial menegaskan dia tidak akan pernah menolak untuk bermain untuk Manchester United, walaupun Ralf Rangnick mendakwa bahawa dia meminta untuk tidak beraksi menentang Aston Villa.
Penyerang berusia 26 tahun itu tidak hadir ketika Rangnick hanya menamakan lapan pemain gantian, termasuk dua penjaga gol, untuk lawatan United ke Villa Park, yang berakhir seri 2-2 selepas Philippe Coutinho melengkapkan kebangkitan lewat selepas ketinggalan dua gol.
Rangnick sudah pun beraksi tanpa Marcus Rashford dan Cristiano Ronaldo kerana kecederaan, dengan Anthony Elanga dipilih untuk bermula di sayap kiri.
Pengurus sementara United itu mendedahkan bulan lalu bahawa pemain antarabangsa Perancis Martial sedang mencari perpindahan dari kelab kerana kekurangan minit permainan.
Sevilla dilaporkan berminat dengan Martial tetapi difahamkan tidak mampu membayar gajinya, dengan United nampaknya menolak pendekatan untuk membawanya secara pinjaman sehingga akhir musim.
Rangnick memberitahu wartawan: "Dia tidak mahu berada dalam skuad.
"Dia akan berada dalam skuad seperti biasa tetapi dia tidak mahu dan itulah sebab mengapa dia tidak bersama kami semalam."
Bagaimanapun, Martial -- yang berhijrah dari Monaco pada 2015 -- kemudiannya menyangkal dakwaan pengurusnya.
Menerusi Instagramnya, Martial berkata: "Saya tidak akan pernah menolak untuk bermain perlawanan untuk Man United.
"Saya telah berada di sini selama tujuh tahun dan saya tidak pernah tidak menghormati dan tidak akan pernah tidak menghormati kelab dan peminat."
