Patrick Kluivert berharap Barcelona akan mengekalkan rakan senegaranya, Frenkie de Jong, di sebalik laporan minat daripada Manchester United.
Walaupun meluahkan hasrat untuk kekal dalam LaLiga, De Jong telah dikaitkan untuk bekerjasama semula dengan bekas pengurusnya di Ajax, Erik ten Hag, sambil Barcelona cuba untuk mendapatkan pulangan modal dengan pakej €85 juta (RM393.9j).
Pemain berusia 25 tahun itu bergelut untuk mencari peranan yang paling sesuai dengannya sejak tiba di Camp Nou pada 2019, dengan Sergio Busquets masih menjadi pilihan utama untuk bertindak sebagai pemain tengah bertahan Barcelona.
Kluivert percaya peranan De Jong akan terus berkembang tetapi sememangnya sukar untuk menggantikan pemain veteran Sepanyol itu, tetapi biarpun Barcelona berdepan masalah kewangan baru-baru ini, mereka perlu berusaha mengekalkannya.
"Saya berharap mereka akan mengekalkannya," kata Kluivert kepada Cadena Ser.
"Jika mereka menjualnya, kelab akan untung besar tetapi ia adalah musim yang panjang dan Frenkie pula bukan sebarangan pemain. Saya tidak akan menjualnya.
"Busquets ada di sana, dia mempunyai tahun yang mengagumkan dan sukar untuk menyingkirkannya.
"Tetapi Frenkie mampu bermain di pelbagai posisi. Bagi saya, yang terbaik ialah nombor enam tetapi Busi ada di sana."
