Dalam edisi di Manila pada 2019, Yeoh Li Tian mencipta sejarah apabila memenangi pingat emas acara rapid lelaki dan menjelang edisi kali ini di Vietnam, pengurus skuad negara, Sumant Subramaniam, yakin atlet berusia 23 tahun berkenaan mampu mengulangi pencapaian itu.
"Untuk tahun ini, atlet yang akan memburu pingat emas adalah orang yang sama, Yeoh Li Tian, dan kami berkeyakinan bahawa dia akan mendapatkan pingat emas keduanya," kata Sumant seperti yang dipetik Nadi Arena.
