Pelari pecut para negara, Ridzuan Puzi, meleburkan rekod dunia lima tahun dalam acara 100 meter T36 apabila mencatat masa 11.87 saat untuk merangkul pingat emas dalam Sukan Para Asia Jakarta 2018, hari ini.
Ridzuan berjaya mara ke aksi final selepas muncul pelari terpantas dalam peringkat kelayakan dengan catatan masa 12.45s.
Bersaing dengan lapan peserta lain, Ridzuan memperagakan larian bertenaga sebelum menjadi yang pertama melintasi garisan penamat dengan masa 11.87s.
Catatan masa itu menyaksikan rekod dunia 11.90s milik pelari Russia, Evgeni Shvetsov, yang dilakukan di Lyon, Perancis pada 2013 lebur di tangan Ridzuan.
"Sebenarnya saya adalah pelari kedua terpantas dalam saingan ini tapi dengan semangat tinggi, saya berjaya menjadi juara," kata Ridzuan.
Kejayaan itu juga memberi nilai sentimental kepada Ridzuan kerana berjaya memastikan emas yang dimenangi Allahyarham Azlan Mat Lazim di Incheon, Korea Selatan empat tahun lalu kekal milik Malaysia.
