"MSN pernah mengumpul RM300 juta," demikian komen bekas Ketua Pengarah, Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Wira Mazlan Ahmad, terhadap cadangan mewujudkan semula program Rakan Sukan bagi menjimatkan kos program latihan atlet.
Mazlan meninggalkan MSN dengan dana yang cukup kukuh pada 2005. Antara faktor utamanya ialah kewujudan program Rakan Sukan apabila 28 syarikat swasta menjadi penaja 27 persatuan sukan kebangsaan.
Memandangkan MSN berdepan masalah kewangan, katanya, ini adalah masa yang sesuai untuk menghidupkan semula program tersebut.
"Saya melihat kita perlu perbaiki lagi Rakan Sukan, di mana insentif lebih bermakna perlu ditawarkan kepada syarikat-syarikat yang mahu menaja mana-mana persatuan sukan.
"Apa yang kita mahu, mereka terlibat sama dalam bidang-bidang tertentu untuk sama-sama memajukan sukan terlibat daripada aspek-aspek yang mereka lebih arif.
"Kalau mereka boleh memberikan input dalam aspek pengurusan persatuan, ia sudah cukup bagus," kata Mazlan.
