Persatuan Angkat Berat Malaysia (PABM) telah menggantung atlet angkat berat Pahang, Khairul Anuar Mohamad, dan mengambil balik dua pingat emas yang dimenanginya di Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) Sarawak selepas didapati positif steroid.
Tempoh hukuman Khairul Anuar akan diumumkan minggu hadapan.
Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Disiplin PABM, Abu Hanapah Ismail, mengetuai sesi pendengaran kes doping atlet angkat berat di Sukma Sarawak.
Khairul diwakili jurulatih, Sapri Abd Latif, dan pengurus Pahang, Amirul Hamizan Ibrahim.
Selepas bersidang lebih sejam, Khairul didapati bersalah mengambil steroid dan berdepan penggantungan, dengan tempoh hukuman akan diumumkan Rabu depan.
"Dia bekas atlet negara, jadi dia tahu segala peraturan. Kami akan mengenakan penggantungan berdasarkan seksyen yang telah kami nyatakan tadi," jelas Abu Hanapah.
Khairul dijangka menerima hukuman maksimum empat tahun kerana diuji positif ketika kejohanan berlangsung.
"Saya sebagai jurulatih akan memberitahu perkara yang boleh dan tidak boleh dilakukan. Tetapi ia terpulang kepada atlet untuk menentukan perkara tersebut," jelas jurulatih angkat berat Pahang, Sapri.
Sementara itu, pengurus angkat berat Pahang, Amirul Hamizan, menjelaskan pihaknya akan mengambil langkah proaktif dalam memastikan senario menimpa Khairul Anuar tidak akan berulang.
"Selepas ini, kami akan memantau kesemua atlet kami dan memberi penerangan terhadap altet pembangunan mengenai pemakanan yang dibenarkan," katanya.
