Ketua jurulatih skuad olahraga para negara, R. Jeganathan, meletakkan sasaran dua pingat emas dalam Kejohanan Olahraga Para Dunia di Dubai, Emirah Arab Bersatu (UAE) bulan depan bagi menjadikan kejohanan itu sebagai medan perisiapan terbaik menjelang Sukan Paralimpik Tokyo 2020.
Beliau optimis sasaran itu mampu direalisasikan dua bintang para negara, Ziyad Zolkefli dan Abdul Latif Romly, selain turut meletakkan harapan kepada muka baru skuad negara.
"Kami sasarkan dua emas daripada Ziyad dan Latif.
"Pingat perak dan gangsa (boleh dapat) dua atau tiga daripada atlet lain, tengok macam mana keadaan dan prestasi mereka," katanya.
Jeganathan, yang terpaksa mengorbankan cuti sambutan Deepavali, mahu anak buahnya memanfaatkan sepenuhnya peluang di Dubai.
Ia bakal menjadi kejohanan terpenting skuad kebangsaan untuk memperbaiki setiap kelemahan berbaki lebih kurang setahun menjelang Sukan Paralimpik Tokyo.
"Ia perjalanan saya ke Tokyo 2020, jadi saya kena tengok kelemahan atlet kami dan kekuatan atlet dari luar negara.
"Itulah matlamat kami dan kami akan singgah di Kejohanan Dunia untuk melihat kelemahan atlet dan akan memperbaikinya untuk tempoh setahun ini," tambahnya.
