Pasukan ragbi 7's kebangsaan terpaksa menunggu lebih lama apabila status Kejohanan Asia dibatalkan berikutan penularan COVID-19 di seluruh dunia.
Kejohanan itu sepatutnya berlangsung di Incheon, Korea Selatan, pada 4 September depan tetapi hanya dua pasukan lelaki dan wanita mengesahkan penyertaan dalam pusingan pertama hingga mengakibatkan pembatalannya.
"Bagus juga ia ditunda sebab pemain-pemain tidak cukup bersedia lagi.
"Selepas 3-4 bulan, pemain tidak menjalani sebarang kem latihan jadi selepas ini ada masa untuk mereka membuat persiapan dalam siri kem kedua dan ketiga kelak.
"Tujuan utama Asia Ragbi untuk menganjurkan kejohanan ini juga adalah bagi tujuan menentukan slot ke Sukan Komanwel 2022 dan Piala Dunia di Cape Town (Afrika Selatan) kelak," kata Naib Presiden Kesatuan Ragbi Malaysia (KRM), Fahmy Jalil, di Nadi Arena sebentar tadi.
