Presiden Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia (KHM), Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, menghormati keputusan Sapura menarik diri daripada Liga Hoki Malaysia (LHM) musim depan.
Di samping itu, KHM juga mengesahkan pihaknya melanjutkan tempoh pendaftaran pasukan sehingga 2 Disember depan untuk mencari pengganti paling sesuai.
Tindakan Sapura itu sesuatu yang mengejutkan selepas 29 tahun skuad berkenaan beraksi dalam LHM selain meraih keputusan cemerlang dengan menjuarai Piala Tan Sri P. Alagendra dan Piala TNB musim ini.
Namun, KHM tetap menghormati keputusan pihak pengurusan Sapura dan telah mengambil keputusan melanjutkan tempoh pendaftaran yang sepatutnya berakhir minggu lalu.
"Tiada apa yang boleh dilakukan tetapi jaminan saya di sini, liga akan diteruskan tetapi isu pemain ini akan dibincangkan selepas mesyuarat pertandingan.
"Selepas itu, barulah kami akan fikirkan apa langkah seterusnya untuk pemain kebangsaan lain, termasuk pemain Sapura," jelas Subahan.
Buat masa ini, enam pasukan sudah mengesahkan penyertaan dalam LHM, termasuk juara berganda, Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) dan juara divisyen satu, TNB Thunderbolt.
LHM pernah mencatat penyertaan 12 pasukan pada musim 1991 sebelum jumlah itu semakin menurun.
