Overseas-based players Dion Cools, Luqman Hakim Shamsudin and Dominic Tan are among 24 players called up by Malaysia for upcoming international friendly games against Jordan and Uzbekistan.

FC Midtjylland defender Cools and KV Kortrijk starlet Luqman will report for international duty from Denmark and Belgium respectively, while Police Tero defender Tan will link up from Thailand.

Recently-crowned Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) dominate the squad list with five players, followed by Selangor (four) and Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu (three each).

Only 12 players from the recent 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign are retained as Tan Cheng Hoe opts to test out new players.

Both games are set to take place in Amman, Jordan, with the national team taking on the host nation on October 6 before facing Uzbekistan three days later.

Malaysia met Jordan once recently, losing 1-0 in 2019, while it is their first encounter with Uzbekistan in more than 10 years when they lost 3-1 in a 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier.

Both upcoming games are the Harimau Malaya's first competitive action since beating Thailand 1-0 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in June, and serve as early preparations for the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup kicking off on December 5.

Malaysia are in the same group as defending champions Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
