Niall Evalds crossed for a hat-trick of tries as Salford Red Devils eased to a 44-20 win over Wakefield Trinity on Sunday.

Salford nudged above their opponents up to sixth in the Super League table as Evalds capped a big victory, with his second try the 100th of his senior career.

The hosts were on top from the outset at AJ Bell Stadium and scored after four minutes through Jake Bibby.

Jacob Miller responded for Wakefield, but then Evalds got his first and Bibby scored again before Joey Lussick put the Red Devils in complete control at the break.

An entertaining contest continued with Ben Jones-Bishop and Robert Lui trading scores, before Miller claimed his second try.

Jones-Bishop got his brace, too, but only after Kris Welham had gone through and then came a late double from Evalds to clinch his hat-trick and an ultimately comfortable triumph.
