Wakefield Trinity head coach Chris Chester has signed a new three-year deal with the Super League club.

Chester has masterminded back-to-back fifth-placed finishes after taking charge at Belle Vue in March 2016.

The highly-regarded 40-year-old has been rewarded with a new contract at his hometown club.

"I am very happy; to get my deal sorted so quickly is great news for me and my family." said Chester.

"We are very settled here, I am a Wakefield Trinity fan and a Wakefield lad and I am delighted to have agreed another three years."

Meanwhile, veteran second-rower Ben Westwood will have an 18th season with Warrington Wolves after agreeing a one-year contract.
