Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah suffered a crash at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the seventh race of the 2018 MotoGP season on Sunday.

In the race won by Jorge Lorenzo, the Malaysian was in position to equal his best-ever finish of ninth, which he achieved in Argentina, before losing control of his bike and falling on the track.

Thankfully, he managed to escape uninjured and even attempted to get back into the action but eventually had to concede his second DNF of the season with four laps remaining.

"I felt really good during the race, but just made a mistake and went wide," Hafizh told Tech3's official website after the race.

"I tried to come back to the right line and I had a highside immediately, so I crashed out.

"I’m truly sorry to the team. We could finish inside the top nine but it was not meant to be.

"I can’t express how sorry I feel for my guys and my sponsors and everybody, that supports me. I promise, I will try to make up for this in the next round."

Hafizh will get his chance for redemption in the next race taking place in the Netherlands on July 1.
