Indian Premier League team Sunrisers Hyderabad have appointed a new head coach in Trevor Bayliss, who will leave his role with England after the Ashes.

The Sunrisers have parted ways with former incumbent Tom Moody and will replace him with Bayliss, who led England to Cricket World Cup glory, culminating in Sunday's dramatic final against New Zealand at Lord's.

Bayliss joined England in 2015 and, after seeing the side dumped out in the World Cup group stages under Peter Moores, set about transforming the team's limited-overs philosophy alongside captain Eoin Morgan.

It has long been known that Bayliss will step down when his contract expires in September, following the five-Test series against the country of his birth, Australia.

The Sunrisers, who won the 2016 IPL under Moody, have acquired a coach with proven white-ball pedigree, Bayliss having twice won the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders as well as the Big Bash League and Champions League with Sydney Sixers.

"After very careful consideration, the Sunrisers franchise has decided to take a new direction with the head-coaching role and will be parting ways with the services of Tom Moody," a statement from the Sunrisers read.

"Trevor Bayliss, England's 2019 World Cup winning coach has been appointed.

"We would like to thank Tom Moody, who has made an enormous impact with the franchise, helping us to achieve five play-off appearances over the past seven years, including a much treasured championship in 2016.

"We would also like to thank him for his work ethic and leadership over our journey and wish him all the success moving forward."

Bayliss also succeeded Moody for the Sri Lanka head coaching role in 2007, guiding the Lions to a second successive World Cup final four years later, only to lose that match to India.
