Billy Joe Saunders' super-middleweight fight against Shefat Isufi has been pushed back a month following his change of coach and uncertainty about the WBO title.

With current champion Gilberto Ramirez expected to vacate the title ahead of a move to light-heavyweight, Saunders had been preparing to fight Isufi for the vacant strap at Wembley Arena on April 13.

However, Ramirez's plans remain unclear and that has led Queensberry Promotions, who represent undefeated former middleweight world champion Saunders, to delay the fight.

They hope to have the bout rescheduled for May, although a specific date and venue are yet to be confirmed.

Saunders' decision to leave Sheffield-based trainer Dominic Ingle and join Tyson Fury's coach Ben Davison is also behind the delay, as Queensberry explained in a statement on Thursday.

"Queensberry Promotions are pleased to confirm that Billy Joe Saunders' next fight will be against Shefat Isufi at super middleweight," it read.

"With the widely reported changes in Billy Joe Saunders' training situation and the current status of the WBO world super middleweight title, this fight will not take place on April 13th at the SSE Arena, Wembley as was previously announced.

"The fight will be moved to a new date in May at a venue to be confirmed at a later date."

Saunders, 29, boasts a perfect record of 27 wins from as many professional contests.

Ingle guided him to a dominant career-best victory over David Lemieux in December 2017

But that proved to be the third and final defence of his WBO middleweight crown after an adverse analytical finding in a test carried out by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association last August saw Saunders refused a license for an October showdown with American star Demetrius Andrade.
