The Timberwolves are pivoting.

According to the Athletic, after the team agreed to a five-year, $190 million super-maximum extension with Karl-Anthony Towns, the organization is now focused on trading All-Star Jimmy Butler.

At the beginning of the week, Butler asked to be traded by the Timberwolves. Initial reports were head coach Tom Thibodeau did not want to deal the All-Star.

However, late in the week it came out Minnesota owner Glen Taylor was not on the same page as Thibodeau.

In fact, his office was telling teams who came with trade requests, if they were rebuffed by general manager Scott Layden then they should come directly to him to discuss a deal.

Butler's list of preferred destinations includes the Clippers, Nets and Knicks.

He most prefers the Clippers.
