The Clippers are close to adding another player this offseason.

Patrick Patterson is planning to sign with Los Angeles after clearing waivers, according to a report from ESPN, which cites unidentified league sources.

Oklahoma City and the 30-year-old forward agreed to a buyout Thursday, the team announced.

The Thunder inked Patterson to a three-year, $16.4 million deal in July 2017. He appeared in 145 total games with the team, averaging 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from 3-point range.

Los Angeles reloaded its roster this summer as it signed Kawhi Leonard and acquired Paul George in a trade with Oklahoma City.

"This (wasn’t something) that came out of the blue,” George told ESPN about the deal last month. “We were all on the same page. The initial plan was to give it another year, see what we could do, and I did that. We played another year and it felt like we were just stagnant. Next thing was, let's move forward with other plans"

The Thunder, meanwhile, are expected to begin a massive rebuild after dealing away George, Russell Westbrook and Jerami Grant.

“The primary focus for our organization based on the circumstances that we inherited this summer is first, we need to reposition the franchise,” Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in mid-July. “Second to that, we need to replenish the franchise after 11 years of not ever being able to do that because we were in such a pursuit for maintaining a team that could get to the postseason and contend in the postseason year after year after year.

“And then, ultimately, we will, just like every team in the NBA or in pro sports, ultimately have to rebuild the team. I feel really good about the fact that we were able to make it work for everybody and figure out a solution.”

Oklahoma City landed eight future first-round picks, along with promising guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, wing Danilo Gallinari and nine-time All-Star Chris Paul in those trades.
