The Lakers aren't going to sit and wait around for players to sign with them this season, they are actively going out to get some.

According to ESPN, Los Angeles has acquired the No. 39 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft from the 76ers for a 2019 second-round pick.

This gives Los Angeles two second-round picks in 2018 (No. 45) and three picks in total (No. 25 come in a trade with the Cavaliers at the deadline.)

It's an interesting move considering it's not often high-impact players come from the second round, especially ones who factor into teams' immediate plans, but the Lakers were solid with their picks in the back half of the first round in 2017 landing both Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart, so additional picks could work out very well for Los Angeles.

In addition, the Lakers could be planning to move up a spot or two and are simply adding additional assets to position themselves better for Thursday's draft which starts at 7 p.m. ET.

We'll see what they do when the event rolls around.
