Anthony Davis has been ruled out of the Los Angeles Lakers' clash against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

Davis suffered a gluteus maximus contusion during the Lakers' 117-87 thrashing of the New York Knicks on Tuesday after a hard fall.

The superstar forward will miss the clash against the Mavericks as he continues to recover from the injury.

"Anthony Davis is out for tonight's game," the Lakers announced via their Twitter account.

The Lakers are on a six-game winning streak and top the Western Conference with a 30-7 record.

Davis has enjoyed a fine season so far, averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
