Hawks guard Dennis Schroder was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery following an early morning incident in the Atlanta area, ESPN.com reported Friday.

He has been released on bond, according to ESPN.com, which had no further information. 

“We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schroder earlier this morning,” the Hawks said in a statement Friday about the incident in the suburb of Brookhaven, Ga. (via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution). “We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”

A native of Germany, Schroder, 24, is about to enter his fifth season in the NBA, all with the Hawks. He is coming off his best season, having averaged 17.9 points, 6.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 78 starts.
