Ex-NBA guard Sebastian Telfair was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for gun possession.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office reported the news Monday and released a statement

“This defendant exercised his right to a jury trial and was found guilty of possessing an illegal firearm,"  District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. "The mandatory prison sentence he received today is required by law and he has now been held accountable for the unlawful conduct.”

Telfair was convicted of one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in April following a jury trial.

Telfair, 34, and 18-year-old Jami Thomas were arrested in Brooklyn in June 2017 on gun possession-related charges when officers allegedly found four loaded weapons — one of them a semiautomatic rifle — ammunition and a bullet-resistant vest.

It was Telfair's second arrest in relation to gun possession. He previously pleaded guilty in 2008 to criminal possession of a weapon after police found him with a .45 caliber handgun under the seat of his car the year prior.

Telfair, who was a first-round pick by the Trail Blazers in the 2004 draft, is a former 14-year journeyman in the league. He spent time with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers, Cavaliers, Suns and Raptors.

He was playing with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2017 when the arrest was made.
