The Celtics seem like they want to bolster their frontcourt.

Boston has a potential deal for Thunder center Steven Adams on its “radar,” according to a report from NBC Sports Boston. The report notes, however, “it’s unclear where he falls in the team’s pecking order as far as players they plan to pursue, or exactly what they are willing to give up in order to acquire him.”

The Thunder are reportedly looking to shed salary and have made Adams “available.” He averaged 13.9 points and 9.5 rebounds in 33.4 minutes per game in 2018-19.

The 25-year-old has two seasons remaining on the four-year, $100 million extension he signed in October 2016.

The Celtics will need to retool their roster as they're expected to lose both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford in free agency this summer. Despite the expected changes, Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told reporters last week he’s still confident in the team’s direction.

"I’m excited about our team going forward,” Ainge said, via NBC Sports Boston. "I like where we’re headed. I like the core young group of guys and I think it’s going to be really fun.

"We have a very attractive franchise to play for, and there’s a lot of people who would be dying to come play here.”

The Celtics entered the season as the favorites to win the East but finished with a 49-33 record and were eliminated by the Bucks in five games in the conference semifinals. They’ve reportedly "checked in" with the Rockets about a trade for center Clint Capela and also explored a deal for Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday.

The Thunder are open to moving wing Andre Roberson and guard Dennis Schroder, as well, according to Sports Illustrated.
