Carmelo Anthony's future has come into question after he was released by the Rockets earlier this week, with some saying he should retire. But his former teammate Allen Iverson has a different take.

Iverson, who played with Anthony for several seasons in Denver, doesn't think it's time for Anthony to retire just yet. He told The Athletic on Saturday that he believes the 10-time All-Star still has a lot left to give the game, he just needs to find the right role.

“No way Melo should retire. I definitely think he should keep going," Iverson said. "He got a lot left in the tank, man. It’s just got to be the right situation.

"It hurts because I love Melo and care about him as a person before all this basketball hoopla. I know he's a great person. But the situation has to be right," Iverson added. "He's going to find his way to adapt to the game and the best spot. I believe in him and I know he's strong enough. He has a strong foundation behind him as far as his family and friends. I really think he'll be all right. I'm in Melo's corner all the way."

Anthony spent last season with the Thunder before he was traded to the Hawks in mid-July for a package centered around Dennis Schroder. He was bought out by Atlanta, then signed with the Rockets. He was released by Houston after just 10 games.
