Revenge was somewhat exacted by Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying as they beat Satwik Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa to a mixed doubles bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

The duo, who lost to Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock in the semi-finals, were defeated in the opening match of the badminton mixed team event by their Indian opposition on Monday.

It was a hard-fought match as they came from 18-19 down to take the first set, and had to defend a late surge in the second set from their opponents to win 21-19.

The bronze medal was the first individual Commonwealth Games medal for the pair, whose previous Games success came from team events.

Tan Wee Kong and Goh V Shem also salvaged some pride after winning their bronze medal match earlier in the day.

The Glasgow 2014 men's doubles winners beat Sri Lanka's Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Goonethilleka 21-8, 21-13.
