Shaun White says competing as a skateboarder in the 2020 Summer Games in Japan would be "the ultimate" after the three-time Olympic snowboard champion entered competitions to test if he can achieve his goal.

The 31-year-old American won his third Olympic title in Pyeongchang this year and is still hungry for more success on the slopes.

Californian White now has half an eye on representing his country when skateboarding debuts at the Tokyo Games in two years' time.

He said: "I've entered myself in a couple of skateboard competitions this summer, I haven't officially decided to go for the summer Olympics in 2022 in Japan, but I'm going to go and try myself out of these events and see where I stack up with the other skaters and then make a decision.

"But I'm definitely not retiring from the sport of snowboarding. I love it too much, I can't walk away just yet but in order to pursue this dream of going to the summer Olympics, I'm probably going to have to take a lighter snowboarding season next year.

"But man, if I could the summer Olympic team, going from winter in Korea to summer in Japan, it would probably be the ultimate for me."
