Malaysia's wait for a swimming medal at the Asian Games since 2002 continues after their swimmers failed to make it out of qualifying heats on Friday.
On the final day of swimming events at the Aquatics Centre in Jakarta, Foong Wei Tze did not qualify for the men's 50m breaststroke final, finishing 21st out of 36 swimmers.
Foong then took part in the men's 4x100m medley relay event, which saw him, Tern Jian Han, Chan Jie and Keith Lim well off the pace, clocking 4.12 seconds slower than Hong Kong who took the final qualifying slot.
Malaysia have not won a medal at the Asian Games since Alex Lim clinched silver in the men's 100m backstroke event at the 2002 edition in Busan.
Lim also bagged the country's only swimming gold medal to date with a 100m backstroke win in 1998 in Bangkok.
Despite going home empty-handed, Welson Sim, Phee Jinq En and co. could take solace in breaking national records in men's 800m freestyle, men's 4x100m freestyle relay and women's 50m breaststroke.
