Despite failing to bag a medal in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay final at the 2018 Asian Games on Wednesday, Malaysia swimmers set a new national record.
The quartet of Welson Sim, Keith Lim, Chan Jie and Foong Wei Tze finished sixth by clocking 3:21.06, breaking the Malaysian record of 3:21.79 set at the 2017 SEA Games.
It was also an improvement from their qualifying time of 3:22.89 set earlier in the day.
They finished 8.38 seconds behind winners Japan (3:12.68), who broke the Asian Games record at the same time.
Joining the Japanese on the podium were China (3:13.29) and Singapore (3:17.22).
