The 2019 SEA Games Athletes Selection Committee will seek an explanation from the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Association (PSM) on the dropping of two main tekong from the national squad.

Ahmad Faedzal Ramli, the 2019 Philippines SEA Games deputy Chef-de-Mission and 2019 SEA Games Athletes Selection Committee member, said that the committee also wanted to hear the PSM’s plans after dropping Syahir Rosdi and Zulkifli Abdul Razak who were said to be involved with disciplinary problems.

"We will discuss with the PSM on their plans because this matter is still in the selection process.

"I will also seek detailed information on what had been decided and the rationale the decisions were made," he told reporters after launching a Level One Sports Science Course organised by the National Sports Institute (NSI) on Monday.

For the record, both players had proved their capabilities to lead the country to glory when they won gold medals at the 2015 and 2017 SEA Games in the regu event.

Their combinations with Farhan Adam and Azlan Alias also ensured the gold medal went to Malaysia at the 2018 Asian Games, ending a 24-year drought at the same time.
