The Philippine SEA Games Organising Committee (PHISGOC) reinstated Malaysian rhythmic gymnast Izzah Amzan's gold medal in the ribbon event on Tuesday.

Malaysia’s chef de mission, Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, said the gold medal would be added back to the medal tally for the Malaysian contingent by the end of the day.

"They [PHISGOC] have agreed with a clause in the SEA Games rule book and will reinstate it [gold medal]," he said.

Izzah, who also won gold and silver in the ball and hoop events respectively, registered an identical score of 15.200 points as team-mate Koi Sie Yan on Saturday.

The jury initially declared Koi as the winner and Izzah as the runner-up based on the level of difficulty in their routines.

The competition's technical officials, however, declared the two as joint winners following a protest by the Malaysian camp against the jury’s decision.

One day later, the PHISGOC was reported to have withdrawn the gold medal from Izzah based on the tie-break procedure under International Gymnastics Federation rules.

Malaysia then filed an official complaint which led to the PHISGOC's latest decision.
