Josh Woods' last-minute drop-goal sealed a dramatic 13-12 victory for Wigan Warriors over Warrington Wolves in the Super League on Friday, as leaders St Helens thrashed Widnes Vikings.

Wigan, missing captain Sean O'Loughlin, had led 12-4 thanks to first-half tries from Tom Davies and Liam Paisley, both of which were converted by Sam Tomkins.

Warrington could only muster a lone Toby King try in reply before the break, but unanswered scores from Tom Lineham and former Warriors players Josh Charnley had the visitors level approaching full-time at DW Stadium.

Full-back Stefan Ratchford failed to add the extras and Tyrone Roberts missed a drop-goal attempt for Warrington.

Wigan then pounced, Woods holding his nerve to seal it right at the death.

In the other match on Friday, Zeb Taia, Mark Percival, Adam Swift and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook all crossed in the first half alone as St Helens opened up a commanding lead at home to Widnes.

Although Danny Craven got one back for the Vikings three minutes into the second half, Theo Fages returned fire and Swift went over twice more to complete his hat-trick, Danny Richardson converting four tries for his rampant side to cap off a dominant 36-6 victory.

St Helens remain top on 36 points, six points clear of second-placed Wigan.
