Sydney Roosters will attempt to match Wigan Warriors' record of four World Club Challenge triumphs when the two sides meet at the DW Stadium on February 17.

Wigan broke new ground when they beat Cronulla Sharks to take the title last year and the Super League champions will have home advantage again for the 2019 decider.

The Roosters consigned Wigan to defeat in the 2014 World Club Challenge and will get another shot at the title after dethroning Melbourne Storm in the NRL Grand Final.

"The World Club Challenge is a significant fixture on the rugby league calendar and we are very proud to be taking our club to England to compete against the Wigan Warriors for the 2019 World Club Challenge title," Roosters chief executive Scott Bennetts said.

"Both clubs feature notably in the history of the tournament and, with the Roosters having hosted the 2014 World Club Challenge match at Sydney's Allianz Stadium, we are looking forward to making the trip to Wigan."

Melbourne thrashed Leeds Rhinos 38-4 in the 2018 World Club Challenge.
