Jack Walker scored a hat-trick as Leeds Rhinos kick-started their Super League season with a 46-14 battering of Salford Red Devils.

The Rhinos lost their opening two fixtures, while Salford had won both of theirs, but Leeds were a class above at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Joey Lussick put the hosts into an early lead before Adam Cuthbertson responded for Leeds and Walker had his first with a 40-metre effort after taking Kallum Watkins' pass.

Konrad Hurrell's converted score made it 18-6 to the Rhinos by the break and, although Josh Jones replied for Salford, Hurrell's second and Matt Parcell's route-one try put Leeds in command.

Walker collected Tui Lolohea's kick for his second and had the hat-trick when he supported Parcell's fine midfield break, before Ash Handley completed the eight-try rout late on.

In Sunday's other fixture, Hull KR made it two wins from three matches with a 22-12 beating of London Broncos – Mitch Garbutt scoring twice for Rovers.
