Suliasi Vunivalu scored a first-half hat-trick as Melbourne Storm made it two wins from two in the 2019 NRL season, beating Canberra Raiders 22-10.

Vunivalu's fifth treble of his career was sealed inside 30 minutes on Friday as the Storm raced into a 14-point lead at GIO Stadium.

His opener came courtesy of Jahrome Hughes' pass, while a grubber kick from Brodie Croft enabled him to double his tally.

Curtis Scott's assist gave Vunivalu his hat-trick and put the Storm in complete control.

The Raiders got on the board in the second half as Jarrod Croker scored twice, but it was not enough to stop last year's losing Grand Finalists continuing their impressive start to the new campaign.

After defeat to the Storm in round one, Brisbane Broncos bounced back in style as they beat North Queensland Cowboys 29-10.

Corey Oates bagged his second double of the season as the Broncos overpowered the Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium, the visitors unable to get on the board until the 58th minute.

By that time Oates had dotted down twice, with James Roberts also grabbing two and Tevita Pangai Junior adding a fifth try to give the Broncos a 24-0 lead.

Jordan Kahu and Justin O'Neill gave the Cowboys something to celebrate but it was never going to be enough to deny the Broncos.
