Johnathan Thurston played his final NRL match on Saturday as the North Queensland Cowboys fought back to overcome the Gold Coast Titans 30-26.

The match brought an end to one of the greatest careers in rugby league and one that saw Thurston inspire the Cowboys to their maiden title in 2015.

The retiring Thurston's performances over the years have put him firmly among the legends of the game.

2222  - In round 21 this season, Thurston overtook Andrew Johns (2176) to become the third most prolific point scorer in Premiership history. Only Hazem El Masri (2418) and Cameron Smith (2366) have scored more.

294 - Thurston has made 294 appearances for the Cowboys, 24 more than any other player. Matt Bowen is second, while current captain Matt Scott is third on 251.

4 - Thurston scored 200+ points in a season on four occasions during his NRL career, including three years in a row from 2014 to 2016.

234 - He enjoyed his best points haul for a single season in 2014, scoring 234 in 24 matches, including 11 tries.

220 - Thurston has scored more State of Origin points than any other player. The next best is Mal Meninga on 161.
