Castleford Tigers enhanced their chances of a home semi-final with a 44-12 rout of Huddersfield Giants in Thursday's Super 8s encounter.

A week on from officially confirming their place in the Super League play-offs, the Tigers ran in eight tries and 28 unanswered second-half points in a comprehensive victory.

There were no immediate signs of what was to come as Adam O'Brien and Lee Gaskell touched down either side of Greg Eden's score to put the Giants 12-4 ahead at The Jungle.

But Jake Webster crossed after Mike McMeeken did well to keep the ball alive, and Junior Moors powered over to put Cas ahead.

It was one-way traffic after the break, with James Clare going over just before the hour and McMeeken crashing down from close range.

Moors then scored his second as the floodgates opened. Peter Mata'utia avoided three defenders to add his name to the scoresheet and Grant Millington reached Jacob Trueman's kick to round out the scoring.

Cas are now one point behind Wigan, albeit having played a game more, with two rounds of the Super 8s to play.
