Huddersfield Giants edged closer to a Super 8s place, while Warrington Wolves and Catalans Dragons played out an entertaining draw in Super League.

The Giants and the Dragons each move onto 19 points, leapfrogging Wakefield Trinity, to boost their hopes of joining Wigan Warriors and the Wire in the top eight come the end of the season.

Wigan scored first in a 20-12 defeat to Huddersfield, as Sam Tomkins bundled the ball over, but the hosts responded strongly and crossed twice before half-time to turn the game on its head.

Darnell McIntosh and Alex Mellor were on the scoresheet, before the former got his second just two minutes after the restart.

Leroy Cudjoe's try gave the Giants further breathing space and a late reply from Tom Davies counted for nothing.

All six tries came in the first half as Warrington and Catalans drew 22-22, with neither side able to clinch victory at the last.

Benjamin Jullien was the first over for the French side, but the hosts scored the next three tries through Bryson Goodwin, Josh Charnley and Harvey Livett.

The game swung back the other way as Michael McIlorum and Tony Gigot went over, before second-half kicks from Tyrone Roberts and Joshua Drinkwater cancelled each other out.

Both players attempted late kicks to win the match, Roberts coming closest, and Wire fans celebrated an inaccurate strike prematurely, as the two teams settled for a point apiece.
