Wigan Warriors have confirmed the signing of Bevan French after Parramatta Eels agreed to release him from his contract.

French is due to arrive in England on Wednesday and will be available for the remainder of the 2019 Super League season, as well as the next two years.

The versatile 23-year-old played 47 times for the Eels, scoring 35 tries, but has fallen out of favour this year, paving the way for his move to the Warriors.

"I feel honoured and very excited to have been afforded the opportunity to play for such a great club as Wigan," French said.

"I am very much looking forward to the challenge and moving forward I am confident that I can contribute to the future success of Wigan in Super League in the next couple of seasons."

Wigan had already announced the signing of Jackson Hastings from Salford Red Devils for 2020, the half-back's impending arrival helping fill the void that will be left by George Williams joining Canberra Raiders.

They have also been linked in the media with a move for George Burgess, the England international prop seemingly set to leave South Sydney Rabbitohs when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

"Bevan is an entertainer, a natural footballer who I have admired for some time," Warriors head coach Adrian Lam said. "He will get people up from their seat and add even more attacking threat and flair to our game.

"We're putting together a strong Wigan squad for 2020 with the announcements of our recent signings together with re-signing of some of our brightest young players. The squad is in great health."
