Darnell McIntosh scored a double on his birthday as Huddersfield Giants moved back into the top eight with a 29-18 Super League victory over Hull FC.

McIntosh celebrated turning 21 in style, crossing twice in the second half as the Giants boosted their bid to feature in the Super 8s and struck a blow to Hull's attempts to finish in the top four.

Daniel Smith powered his way over for the opening try, while Aaron Murphy and Jordan Rankin also crossed for the home side in the first half after the in-form Bureta Faraimo's converted score had briefly brought Hull level.

The Giants led 19-6 at half-time at the John Smith's Stadium and birthday boy McIntosh went over twice following the interval, ensuring scores from Hakim Miloudi and Danny Houghton were in vain.

Danny Brough scored nine points on his return from a three-match ban as Huddersfield secured a win that moved them up to seventh and knocked defending champions Leeds Rhinos out of the top eight.
