Walker double ends Roosters' perfect start, Cowboys beat Rabbitohs

Dylan Walker's double consigned Sydney Roosters to a first NRL defeat of the season as the in-form Manly Sea Eagles won a thriller 18-12 before North Queensland Cowboys beat South Sydney Rabbitohs to go joint-top.

Manly stretched their winning run to three games and are now fourth in the ladder after Walker's late try settled a gripping contest at Allianz Stadium on Friday.

Centre Walker slotted over an early penalty, but the Roosters led after Shaun Kenny-Dowall took a superb pass from Luke Keary to go over for the opening try, which Michael Gordon converted.

Manly were deservedly level 18 minutes in, when Jorge Taufua dived over in the corner after he was expertly picked out by Tom Trbojevic to make it 6-6 at the break.

Akuila Uate had a try ruled out as he had a foot in touch, but Walker showed a sharp turn of foot to get on the end of Blake Green's grubber to score his first four-pointer of the night and added the extras.

Mitchell Pearce powered his way over for a score which Gordon converted to level with nine minutes to play, but it was Walker who had the final say, racing onto a brilliant pass from Brian Kelly before surging away for a decisive try and landing his conversion to put the icing on the cake.

The Cowboys joined the Roosters and Melbourne Storm - who face Penrith Panthers on Saturday - on eight points with a 20-6 victory over the Rabbitohs.

First-half tries from Michael Morgan and Gideon Gela-Mosby, the latter of which rounded off a slick move, as well as six points from the boot of Johnathan Thurston gave Paul Green's men a 14-0 advantage at the break.

Robert Jennings' converted try got the Bunnies back in it, but they were unable to respond to their derby defeat to the Roosters with a win as Shaun Fensom added a third try for the Cowboys, who now have four wins from five.
