Hull FC's Danny Houghton won the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award on Monday, presented annually to the leading player in Super League.
Houghton excelled for Hull, who missed out on a Grand Final place last week as they were beaten by Wigan Warriors, throughout 2016.
The tireless hooker is renowned for his energy and work-rate, qualities epitomised by the last-gasp try-saving tackle he made on Warrington Wolves' Ben Currie at Wembley in August to ensure Hull won the Challenge Cup final.
Houghton saw off competition from Hull team-mate Gareth Ellis and prolific Castleford Tigers winger Denny Solomona - the scorer of 40 Super League tries in 2016 - to win the prize.
Zak Hardaker earned the individual accolade last year after helping Leeds Rhinos to a stunning treble.
The Super League season will come to a close at Old Trafford on Saturday when League Leaders' Shield winners Warrington Wolves face Wigan Warriors in the Grand Final.
