Korbin Sims strongly dismissed critics of Wayne Bennett, labelling suggestions the Brisbane Broncos boss has lost his aura and support of the players as "absolute bulls***".
The Broncos opened their NRL season with a 26-18 win against defending champions Cronulla Sharks, but head coach Bennett has still come in for criticism over his ability to reignite the club.
There is a belief that the seven-time premiership-winning coach has lost his influence but recruit Sims shot down talk of Bennett's demise.
"He's Wayne Bennett," forward Sims told reporters on Monday. "It's pretty simple.
"He signed me up here when I was a 15-year-old and I haven't looked at him differently.
"He hasn't lost any aura in my eyes.
"And the talk of him losing the playing group is absolute bulls***."
The Broncos play host to local rivals North Queensland Cowboys in round two on Friday.
