Newly sworn-in Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general Nazifuddin Najib confirmed on Monday that two non-Malaysian athletes tested positive for unspecified banned substances at the 2017 SEA Games.
According to him, the athletes involved were an equestrian rider and a weightlifter, and had already been informed of their urine test results conducted by the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS).
Prior to this, three athletes had already tested positive for doping, including Malaysian diver Wendy Ng Yan Yee.
"The matter will be discussed in a meeting this week before we depart for Manila [for 2019 SEA Games preparations]," said Nazifuddin, who started his first day as OCM secretary-general after defeating Low Beng Choo in an election held during the 37th Annual General Assembly on Saturday.
"We will prepare the necessary documents to be sent to the SEA Games Federation (SEAGF) this week."
This mean Malaysia could potentially add more medals to their 2017 SEA Games tally, which saw them finish top of the medal standings with 145 gold, 90 silver and 86 bronze.
