It did not take long for Malaysia to bag their first gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games as Loh Choon How emerged victorious in the men's Taijiquan event on the first day.
The 26-year-old scored 9.680 points to beat Brunei's Hosea Wong Zheng Yu (9.590) and the Philippines' Parantac Daniel (9.560).
It marked Malaysia's successful defence of the gold medal, which was won by Loh Jack Chang in 2017.
In other wushu events held on Sunday morning, Wong Weng Son clinched a silver medal in men's Changquan, while Sydney Chin Sy Xuan missed on out on contributing to Malaysia's medal list as she finished fourth in women's Taijiquan as Filipino practitioner Agatha Chrystenzen Wong defended her gold medal.
