The threat of thunderstorms loomed over Augusta for much of Monday, causing Masters practice to be suspended at 2:30 p.m. ET.
As the golfing elite and their fervent followers descended on the famous course ahead of the tournament's start Thursday, many were left disappointed by the weather.
Practice rounds were disrupted throughout the day, with approaching thunderstorms eventually prompting organizers to suspend play for the day shortly after lunchtime.
"Play will be suspended shortly for the day, based on new weather information," read a tweet from the Masters' official account.
According to forecasts, Tuesday is supposed to see the weather improve, although Wednesday and Thursday could see the return of more storms.
