Austin Dillon got a tattoo late Sunday night/early Monday morning to celebrate his Daytona 500 victory, but his wife Whitney is likely the only person who will get see it.

That’s because the tattoo, which features the Daytona 500 logo and the word “champ” emblazoned beneath it, is on his butt, ESPN.com reported.

Not yet healed, Dillon “cringed” when a member of his crew gave him a friendly slap on his backside Monday morning, according to the report.

"It hurt," Dillon said. "It feels OK this morning, but one of my boys smacked me on the butt when I came over here, and I was like, 'Easy, guys.'"

A bit of pain notwithstanding, Dillon seems happy with his new ink, even though he won’t show it off to a lot of people

"You'll never be able to see it," he said. "It's a pretty cool looking today. My (wife) Whitney is probably the only one that is going to see it for a while."

Some of Dillon’s crew members got tattoos of their own, and while crew chief Justin Alexander declined to join the fun, he gave us another reason to keep cheering for the No. 3 Chevrolet this season.

"If we win a championship, I'll get a tattoo on my face," Alexander said.
